Yard sale purchases

Today at school, Busy was allowed to take some money to buy some things from the older kid's yard sale. They were raising money for their end of the year activities so I sent Busy with a few dollars. I told her teachers to let her pick out a couple of things then she could donate the rest of the money. This is what she came home with...

I'm not sure she could have been any more diverse :)

"Here we are to save the day!"

One of Busy's best friends had a super cute Super Hero 3rd birthday party. The kids were given super hero capes and masks as favors and now she and her other best friend like to assume their secret identities. In one of the videos they get a little side tracked with a quick game of Ring Around the Rosies :) I love days like these!

"You are the cutest boy in the world, Beans."

I took this video the other day as we were getting the Beans ready for his nap. These are the moments I honestly take a step back and realize that I am blessed beyond words. It makes me cry for a number of reasons. One being that I know time is precious and fleeting. I know they won't be like this but for a blink of an eye. They amaze me everyday, even on the days that aren't as sweet as this one :) I will for sure keep this video to show to them when they are fighting as teenagers.

That was a close one...

Phew! That was a close one. I bought an external hard drive to back up all of my files but then couldn't find any of my pictures! So, I called the 1800 apple number and talked to a very peasant, although young sounding, Jay. After 33 minutes of walking through various steps, he helped me open what I thought were my lost files of photos. I then completed the iPhoto upgrade and all is good. Like I said, phew.

So I may have just created the BIGGEST disaster of my life!!! I was so excited yesterday when I upgraded our computer (a mac) to Lion. I decided to do this because we have an iCloud account and I want all of the pictures I take on my phone to sync to my computer automatically. I really like Lion and it is super cool to use. Imagine my disappointment when I realized that once you have Lion installed, you have to ALSO pay to upgrade iPhoto in order for the syncing to occur. So I went through the steps and read everything carefully then started the upgrade. When the new iPhoto was installed I opened it up to see if my streamed photos were there..... and NOTHING was there!!!! Not a single picture that I have starting with my baby belly full of my daughter, the birth of both of my kids (nothing yucky), all of our dogs. EVERYTHING IS GONE!!! After crying for a good 15 minutes, I moved into the next stage of grief and got furious! I made an appointment with the genius bar at the apple store for this afternoon in hopes that they can fix this. Nowhere did it say that my photos might not make the upgrade with me. Someone will be getting an ear full if the pictures of my life are gone forever...

A Dual Purpose

yes, that is a Halloween bow on the top of her head:)
This is what we did this morning! I loved doing this with my kids when I was teaching. I would always do it towards the end of the school year to practice spelling words for our annual class spelling bee... and it cleaned the desks! You need a table, a can of shaving cream and some "props" that can be washed. We practiced drawing shapes and writing letters. I gave her a straw, bottle top, plastic cookie cutter (don't use metal if you don't want to scratch your table), and a left over plastic Easter egg. She played at the table for at least 30 minutes! It was so much fun... and the table is cleaner than it's ever been!

Body Part Painting

I am not afraid of a mess and neither is Busy, so this is fun for us! She used her elbows, knees, finders, nose, and even her hair! Needless to say, this activity needs to followed by a good bath.

Spring is in the Air

It's spring! And in this house that means it's bird feeder time. Instead of making the usual pine cone feeder, we decided to get a little more creative. This is easy and prettier to look at, too. You need half of an orange, peanut butter, bird seed, string and a tree branch to hang the feeder. I cut the orange in half and scraped out the inside to make the half hollow. Then poke two holes on each side of the orange and tie the string through each hole. Mix the peanut butter with bird seed. You just want enough peanut butter to hold the seed together. This is so the seed doesn't fall out of the orange when you hang it in the tree. Put the pb and seed mix in the orange and hang it on a branch for the birds. We put ours on the tree right outside of Busy's bedroom window so she can watch the birds eat :)
FYI: the birds never got a turn to try the "bird" feeder. The squirrels got there first. But none the less, it was thoroughly enjoyed!
the peanut butter made a good snack after working so hard.
