Mini Me

I have now posted this on Instagram, Facebook and now here simply because I cannot get over it! My mom has told me for a while now that I am raising a mini me. She even has a to take a step back sometimes and blink because she says she is having deja vu when playing with Busy. But I think this picture takes the cake! I came down stairs after putting the Beans down for a nap and found her in her new book nook with Baby Doll singing 'Rock-A-Bye Baby.' I was immediately reminded of a picture of me. Luckily I had my phone and snapped a picture. Now, look at this...
The picture of me on the left was taken in November of 1982. I was almost 3 and a half. The one of Busy on the right was taken today (July 31, 2012). She turned 3 last month (June 4). CRAZY!!!

Busy's New Book Nook

A few weeks ago I made Busy a book nook in her room next to her book shelves at the foot of her bed. She set up her book box, toy box, cozy rug and reading chair in the corner. She is a firm believer in privacy (but has no regards for personal space,) so her newest request was a door for her book nook so she could "read in private." When I told her she could just shut the door to her bedroom, she said "that won't work because I need to hear all over the rest of the house in case Beansie calls for me." :)

The solution: a shower curtain! I bought a cheap shower curtain rod at Bed Bath and Beyond and let her pick out a shower curtain (I pre-picked 2 and let her make the final decision.) I had some hanger clamps that were left over from window treatments I hung a while ago. I folder the shower curtain in half, attached the clamps, hung it from the rod and hung the rod between her bed and the wall. Voila! A privacy "door."

She loves it and as soon as I installed it she sat in her reading chair and read books for 20 minutes! It makes a great "house" as well.

Some Science Experiments

Busy and I were, well, busy this morning with a little bit of science. We started off with a lesson in magnetism. We cut pipe cleaners in small pieces and put them in an empty water bottle. As we were cutting I asked her if she thought the pipe cleaners would be magnetic. She said "they are fuzzy, not hard, so they are not magnetic." Once the pieces were cut and in the bottle, I hander her a small refrigerator magnetic and told her to start experimenting. I left it open ended for her to explore on her own. She stuck the magnet to the bottle and started to try and move the pieces of pipe cleaners through the plastic. Her face lit up as she discovered that they were magnetic after all!

Volcano This was her favorite! All you need is clear cup, and shallow bowl, about a 1/4 of a cup of baking soda, food coloring and a splash of vinegar. We put the baking soda and food coloring in the cup and the cup in the bowl to catch the "lava." Pour a splash of vinegar in to the cup and watch it bubble up and spill over! You can do this over and over again until all of the baking soda has reacted. We probable did it about 15 times :)

Lava Lamp The last experiment was one that we have done before, but it was so much fun that we did it again. All you need is another water bottle, water, cooking oil, food coloring and Alka seltzer tablets. Fill the water bottle about a third of the way full then add food coloring. Then fill the bottle the rest of the way with oil. Break the seltzer tablet into fourths and drop the pieces in one by one and watch the colored bubbles rise in the oil. This one is Daddy's favorite :)

Instagram and PicFrame

So I am now obsessed with Instagram. I think it is the coolest app! I find myself lost in time trying to pick which style of photo I want my original picture to look like. One of my favorites is the one that make your picture look old and a little faded like this one of Busy and Bentley.

I also like playing with the app PicFrame. You can put pictures side by side to compare or choose a frame with 4 squares to show a sequence of adorable pictures like this one of my adorable niece. (I call her Peaches :)

I have added a tab at the top of my blog in case you want to follow me on Instagram (and one for if you want to do the same on Pinterest). You certainly don't have to, but I must say, some of the pictures are super cute :)

This is Busy's latest routine. On the days she doesn't take a bath, she wants me to put her hair up in a pony tail and help her push the rest of her hair back with a head band. Then she wets a wash cloth and washes her face before bedtime! She is 3!!! Man, she is getting so big so fast.

Yay water camp

Busy had camp all week at her school. It was a water theme and every day comes home so excited to see what the next day will bring. This afternoon I was waiting in the carpool line about halfway back. I can hear the muddled voices of small children laughing and talking when all of the sudden above all else I hear Busy say (shout) "Yay water camp!" 3 or 4 times. I'm just glad she likes it :) and now everyone within a 2 mile radius knows it too.
